CatRescue 901

About us

Formed in 2006, CatRescue 901 is committed to rescuing, caring for and rehoming abandoned animals and providing community support and education. We rely on the goodwill of the community, and the dedication of volunteers to achieve this vital work.

As a registered charity in Australia, CatRescue 901 is governed by a board of directors who manage and oversee its operation. We operate under the following management team, Erica Trinder, Carole Neese, Kirstie Blain, Lysa Peters and our board members, Libby Gray and Michelle Roux, all of whom volunteer their time.

CatRescue 901 does not operate a shelter, instead we have volunteer foster carers, who care for the cats in their homes.

All foster carers are contractually bound to ensure our animals receive a high standard of care. During this process Carer Coordinators provide them with unlimited support. Read more here about the rewards of foster caring with us.

Who are we?

Kirstie has been volunteering with CatRescue 901 for over 4 years and in that time has both fostered cats and kittens, and helped with the day to day running of the rescue. She volunteers her time doing transportation and fostering as well as assisting with social media and website design. Kirstie is a self proclaimed crazy cat lady!

Lysa Joined CatRescue 901 in 2015 to help with admin. She is still here! She tried fostering at first..….see profile pic of her first fosters to explain why she is not fostering now and sticking to admin (lest she end up with 100 cats!!). Lysa’s main role with CR901 is adoption paperwork and tracking vet-work.

Erica has been with CatRescue 901 since 2006 (from the early days when it was known as CatRescue NSW). Erica’s roles have included fostering, mentoring, TNR, admin, amongst many other things. Erica has been passionate about cat rescue since she was a child, when she was introduced to it through her great aunt who rescued and rehomed cats in Western Sydney for many decades. Erica is particularly passionate about TNR (aka Trap, Neuter, Return) and has personally TNR’d over 300 cats over the last 15 years.

Carole has been volunteering with CatRescue 901 since 2019, after adopting a sassy Cat Rescue cat who integrated beautifully into her tribe of resident cats and dogs. She started out doing transport and very short term fostering, which since then has progressed to full time fostering. She is now also a member of the admin team, helping out with accounting & logistics.
